Planning

Kaernest System utilizes multiple d12's for rolls. Typically 2 or 3 d12s are rolled. Only 2 of them are used.

Kaernest is a land without summer, ruled by tyrannical Dragons, where the people live at a subsistence level only due to the demands of their Dragon overlords.

People[]

The descriptions below are very short and also very incomplete. The race in parenthesis name a race that had some influence on the way this race was created, but they have significant differences.

The Good Guys[]

These are the PC races.

The Bad Guys[]

These are the ones that cause trouble; the bad guys. Where names sound familiar, there is some similarity, but there probably also quite a bit of difference. Most of these races either came with the dragons, or were created here by tainting the original races with Wyrm Blood.

The Ugly Guys[]

Most monsters are a magical "mutation" of an animal, but some are the failed(?) experiment of a wyrm or blooded priest. In general, monsters aren't particularly intelligent, but some are smarter than the average dog. Some rare monsters are actually beings from another plane (typically the material plane that Hume and his followers came from. There is no "complete list" of monsters, but there are some more common monsters that able to procreate, and not so unique.

Animals[]

Kaernest is alien enough that the animals we take for granted don't typically exist there. In most cases, where there is a species that resembles an animal, the animal exists as well (and are often commonly found around that species). These are some of the more common animals, or animals that are bred and raised by the benevolent species. (Note: most of these need "new names")

Geography[]

KaernestWorldMap1

Kaernest is a world (planet is not an appropriate term in this case) currently caught in "winter"; the seasons all shifted toward colder and much less growth. Kaernest is actually a flat world. Climb to the highest mountain top and as long as the weather is agreeable, you can see all the way to the World Peaks. It also has some interesting Astronomy, with a sun that explodes each night into the stars, and 3 moons that never set.

History and Politics[]

History[]

The two biggest historical events where the coming of the Dragons, and the arrival of Hume.

Political Locations[]

Kesh[]

Kesh is the empire of the Sektarri, or more accurately, the empire of the Great Wyrm Hezjtivarrum. It was once primarily praries broken up with forests and mountains with cities built along the rivers that ran through it, bringing flourishing life to their shores, but now it is more of a desert/tundra, with those same rivers frozen in some places, choked in others, and abused in others. There are oases that are home to vicious predators and greedy dragons. Where there were once vast resources to be found under the ground, the permafrost creates an impenetrable barrier for those that would seek those resources.

Drakkennosk[]

Drakkenosk is the kingdom of the Dazhdvog and Itzalcoatl. Unlike typical kingdoms, this one is very much non-contiguous. All of Drakkenosk officially lies underground; under mountains for that matter.
