This is where I want to dump ideas that I definitely want to include into the system and/or setting.
Planning[]
Kaernest System[]
- Blades inspired "flashbacks"
- 3rd d12 (why/when?)
- SubVersion/Blades inspired "community/crew" (both?)
SubVersion inspired "regard"(?)Chronicle inspired "intrigue"SubVersion inspired "impulses", "values", "goals"Swap out Bruintaur (I liked the idea, but they don't fit very well) and replace with fishy race.
As stuff from this list gets implemented, I'll need to mark it off, but I don't think I want to remove it because it helps remind me where my inspiration came from, and what I'm trying to "recreate". You'll notice a strong tendency toward intrigue/politics (I believe the "impulses, values, and goals" system from SubVersion will assist with this). I like these types of games. But I want to allow for more than just political games, not everyone is into them.
Kaernest Setting[]
- Racial conflict without overpowering play
Inspiration[]
Kaernest is a fictional world, initially developed by Rich and Sergio, but it has gone through many iterations and evolutions, with the expectation that it will be greatly expanded through collaboration and play.
Other Systems[]
- AD&D 2nd Ed - This is where I got my start. Every time I get away from systems with crunch, I eventually want to go back to them. As much of a role-player and character development player, I still have fun with tweaks and powers. I like the epic side of fantasy, and fantasy RPGs will always be my go-to.
- 7th Sea - While the current version has less 7th Sea stuff in it, my intention is to include magic schools that should have a bit of 7th Sea Swordsman School feel to them. Also, magic being more racially limited goes back to 7th Sea as well. Some of the narration stuff will be borrowed from 7th Sea 2E.
- Chronicle - Chronicle started (?) as a The Song of Ice and Fire edition, and it was written to have a very strong intrigue system. I've heard that it didn't work so well in play, so I can only borrow so much.
- FATE - An open ended system for values and goals is at least partially inspired by FATE's aspects. This is an even stronger source for some of the things I plan to add in narration.
- Blades in the Dark - For a system that's pretty new to me, there's quite a bit I'm pulling from here: clocks, damage system, flashbacks, and the effort system I'm hoping to use.
- SubVersion - Alignment from D&D has never been a solid system. The impulses, values, and goals from this system can help with alignment and effort to make a system that works together.
