Description[]
Verdanni are similar in height to Humans, but have slighter builds. Literally beings of plant, their 'skin' is green like leaves, although they can have colorful patches and even flowers in some cases. Verdanni "hair" is either long narrow leaves, similar to vines or grass, or where their flowers grow from. Their eyes are uniformly black all over.
There are no genders among the Verdanni, however it is not uncommon for them to take on a gender, even dressing or looking more male or female. In many cases, they take on a female appearance as this seems to give them advantage when dealing with the Sektarri, as the Sektarri have a matriarchal society.
History[]
The Verdanni built their homes in great trees and ruled all of the forests of Kaernest, but when the Dragons came, the Wyrm of the Verdanni chose not to protect her people in earnest. The Sektarri came and enslaved many of the Verdanni; and continue to come and gather slaves from their lands.
Culture[]
Verdanni culture is loosely based on Italian and/or Roman culture. They make up about 19 percent of the ("common") population of Kaernest, however this is not common knowledge. Most would expect they only make up about 12 percent; there are far more in hiding than most would guess.
The Verdanni have a strong connection to the trees and plants of the world. So most Verdanni live as slaves ripped from their homes. Not affected by the pheromones and smells of the other races, but able to sense them, they have learned to read others, understand them, and manipulate them. With most Verdanni being slaves, they tend to use their skills in other ways. Free Verdanni tend to be quite wild and dangerous as they have no desire to be captured.
Having a supernatural feel for wooden weapons: bows and spears, Verdanni excel with these weapons. Those back in their homelands also know how to build armour from Ironwood.
The free Verdanni have built a strong relationship with the Kampanni, having similar mentalities and seeing the Kampanni as a truly free people. There are also rumors that the Kampanni are helping free Verdanni slaves, and acting as lookouts for slavers in the forests. With the friction between the Kampanni and the Dazhdvog, they have benefited from have free access to the upper canopies of the forests as safe havens for their caravans. Of course the fact that the absolute finest of Kampanni "wagons" are Verdanni made, also helps this relationship.
Much like the relationship between Verdanni and Kampanni, the Fluvarri have an excellent relationship with the Verdanni that goes back to times before the dragons, and includes several types of mutual benefit.
Organizations[]
Sikkarri[]
The Sikkarri are freedom fighters and guerilla fighters who train in hidden monasteries. They're trained primarily in fighting without weapons to avoid being given away by carrying weapons. Sikkarri can include non-Verdanni and can include Hidden Verdanni and freed Verdanni.
Magic[]
Their magic revolves around alchemy.
Myths and Legends[]
"Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter"[]
Places[]
The Verdanni no longer hold lands, however they live in just about every known forest/woodland. It is somewhat odd that despite this, there is still a dragon who looks over the Verdanni; Chirgolith, a wooden great wyrm.

Heritages[]
Ancient Ash[]
Your memory is sharp and clear, and you remember so much. You remember the calm before the storm and the soil after the rain, the acrid tang of magic and the whisper of a song. You remember it all. You become trained in one skill of your choice. At 5th level, you become an expert in that skill.
Enchanting Lily[]
You smell ever so sweet—a delicate, floral scent like the intoxicating fragrance of lilies and the soft scent of lilacs. You're trained in Diplomacy (or another skill if you were already trained in Diplomacy). You also gain a +1 circumstance bonus to checks to Make an Impression if the target can smell your fragrance.
Hidden Verdanni[]
You're adapted to life in the forest or the deep jungle, and you know how to climb trees and use foliage to your advantage. When Climbing trees, vines, and other foliage, you move at half your Speed on a success and at full Speed on a critical success (and you move at full Speed on a success if you have Quick Climb). This doesn't affect you if you're using a climb Speed.
You can always use the Take Cover action when you are within forest terrain to gain cover, even if you're not next to an obstacle you can Take Cover behind.
Seer[]
You have an inborn ability to detect and understand magical phenomena. You can cast the detect magic cantrip as an arcane innate spell at will. A cantrip is heightened to a spell level equal to half your level rounded up.
In addition, you gain a +1 circumstance bonus to checks to Identify Magic and to Decipher Writing of a magical nature. These skill actions typically use the Arcana, Nature, Occultism, or Religion skill.
Strong Oak[]
Most verdanni have bodies of pliable vines and tough stems, but you're covered in sturdy, rough bark and your legs are stable as roots. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus on your Fortitude or Reflex DC against attempts to Grapple or Trip you. This bonus also applies to saving throws against effects that would grab you, restrain you, or knock you prone. You also gain a +2 circumstance bonus on Acrobatics checks to Balance.
